Done with school, woot woot! I should be more excited but I don't know yet if I passed the class that would make or break my stats minor. Ha... yah. But either way, I am done! And employed!
I just finished a 12 hour shift and my 3rd day (night) at a residential treatment center and school for troubled and at risk teenage girls.
To fill you in on the comments I've received from the girls AND staff...
"Can I ask you a personal question? How old are you?"
"I didn't know if you were staff or a new patient."
"I am fourteen and look older than you!"
"You make me feel tall."
"I was like, this girl is old enough to be working here?"
I am 22. and going to bed.
Goodnight! (morning)

Taking a Break
I had 1 test yesterday and have 3 tests this weekend so I really shouldn't be on my blog... but it's good to take breaks.

Here's what I have learned through this crazy, study cramming week:
- You can't warm up egg yolk in the microwave; the egg will just cook.
- While reading a study about the heart rate of tree shrews, I first learned that trees have heart rates. I thought this was cool until I found out tree shrews were animals. So from my Analysis of Variance homework, I learned that a tree shrew is a type of animal and plants, in fact, do not have heart rates.
- 77 days left in the semester. We calculated that in my stats computer programming class. By we I mean everyone in the class but me, because I don't know how to do anything on a computer besides scroll through Pinterest and type run-on sentences for my blog posts. The only thing I have learned in that class is that if the license for a program on your computer is expired, you can just change the date on your computer to last year or whenever the program wasn't expired, then it will work. This counts for learning something though, right?

Oh and I thought this was funny too... :)

Gets me every time.

Laying down with your eyes closed
Artificial Energy

I have needed a lot of this stuff all week. In the last 55 hours, I have had less than six hours of bed time. 2 4-page papers, 1 test, lacrosse every day, work every day, a yard sale, and am bridal shower tonight. I love being busy! and I can't wait to... what's the word again?.. oh yah! sleep!

Competition
So I really don't like my English class. I don't like it because I like writing and I don't want to know if anyone else doesn't like my writing. Today in class we had to write a short little story, then everyone voted on the best one. If I would have known it was a competition, I would have put a little more heart into it. I didn't win.
Do you know what else I'm taking as a competition? Maddy made police beat at USU. I am quite jealous.
Recent funnies:
I was singing "tonight" to myself. "We're dancing on top of the Hollywood sign."
My 7 year old sister proceeded to correct me on my top 40's lyrics. It really goes "dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign."
Mom (texting my brothers while they were at a hotel in Vegas): What have you been up to today?
Jake: playing hide-and-seek
Mom (wondering how much damage in the hotel she was going to pay for): What do you mean hide and seek?
Jake: I turned the lights off and it took like 5 minutes for Jordan to find me. There are so many cool places to hide in this room!
Jordan is 17, Jake is 15.
I was compared to chocolate cake- as in really good, but bad for you.
Yesterday Hillary and I were playing lacrosse in the courtyard. That turned into soccer with more people which evolved into Taco Tuesday with even more people. This guy, Rico, drove us to Taco Tuesday at Rubio's in his topless jeep. I love jeeps but my hair was going everywhere and was a mess! I asked if anyone had a hair elastic and Rico just pulled out a bag of hair elastics for me. He said he learned that if he had a jeep, he should probably invest in some elastics too. FPOD.

This is the Way I Live
Isn't there some scripture that talks about not putting new wine in old bottles?
Well that can be applied to laptops.
Don't try new hardware with old computers.
It just won't work.
I keep my laptop in the hall, between my room and the bathroom, on the floor.
Why?
Because there is no table or chairs in the hall.
Because the apartments' new wifi doesn't work on my laptop
and the cable outlet is in my room.
Because my laptop only works while plugged in
and the closest power outlet is in the bathroom.

Guess I should have studied... Oh wait, I did!
Soo.. grades came out today. This is the texting conversation my sister and I just had:
Megan: Have you checked your grades yet?
Madi: ugh I got an A- in marriage and family! I suck at life! How'd you do?
Megan: I am too scared to look. You probably did better than me.
Megan: Umm your better than me. College is depressing.
Madi: I know I'm so depressed!
Megan: Like I'm honestly screwed for life idk what to do with my life.
Madi: Took the words right from me.
Megan: Ugh! I need a social life but I guess BYU doesn't let you!
Madi: Good grades, social life, sleep. You can only pick 2. Welcome to college.
Megan: It's more like you can pick 1 and you still won't get everything done!
Madi: BYU, where your best just isn't good enough.
Megan: plus work, plus cleaning the house. Did I mention church callings?
and a sport, maybe?

Impossibility: I'm a believer.

Terrible Testing
Just to vent about last night...
Here at BYU I don't feel like the brightest crayon in the box. High school was all about good grades and overachieving. That changed in the fall of 2008. This year, I have mostly been taking classes for my major- psychology. I love my psych classes and have finally felt like I can do this whole college thing. Until last night. I had a test yesterday for one of my favorite classes- Child Psychopathology. This was my 3rd test of the semester for the class. I did great on the first two tests and was feeling confident.
The test ran from Thursday to Monday. I had lacrosse all weekend so had to resort to paying the late fee and taking the test yesterday. Usually I go to the testing center, review for an hour, and take the test. The last test is handed out at 9 so I went to the testing center at 8. I haven't had a problem with this in the past.
When I walked into the testing center yesterday, the line for tests was looped around the top floor a few times, down the stairs, to the door, and looped around again. I was overwhelmed but just tried to study while I was in line. After waiting in line for 15 minutes I realized I didn't have my ID card. I talked to the girl behind me and she was nice enough to save my spot in line while I ran to my car. Freaking parking at BYU! The closest you can get is 15 minutes away from campus. So I had my back pack with my books and laptop and sprinted to my car. At some point my phone fell out of my back pack, but a nice boy chased me down to give it back. I got to my car and got my ID card, and threw my back pack in the trunk so that I could run back to the testing center in time. This means I didn't have anything to study while in line.
So I sprinted back to the testing center, past the signs that said "Do not walk alone at night," and found the girl who had saved my spot. Did I mention I have been sick and it was 38 degrees outside? When I got back in line, in the crowded building, I couldn't stop coughing. Everyone around me wanted to kill me I'm sure.
I finally was handed my test at 8:55 (remember last test handed out at 9?) and found that there were no seats when I got in the testing room. I was asked to move a few times because apparently you aren't allowed to sit on the floor to take a test. Testing center employees opened up some extra classrooms for people to sit. I searched the overflow to find no empty seats. I settled for a piano bench and ended up taking my test on the piano.
Needless to say, I did terrible on my test. So much for an A. It's not about grades, it's about what you learn, right?
