A Beautiful Lady

The last few weeks I have been a little frustrated with the graduation process. Yeah I brought it on myself by deciding 2 weeks before graduation applications were due that I wanted a minor. The plan was to graduate in April with a degree is psychology. In hopes and small chances that I will go to grad school, I decided a minor in statistics will be helpful.

I made the decision to go for it and the next day I was running from this building to that building to another building and back to this building. I finally got papers signed and the minor cleared. The negotiation was if I could get a minor by August, I would do it; if I couldn't get the minor by August, I would just graduate in April without it.

The next step was to get cleared for a bunch of classes. So after lots of frustration and even more emails, I finally talked to this lady today who helped me out. It was all over computer. She added more sections of a class I need, cleared my name for some classes, and switched one class around for me. I never saw her but I'm assuming she's beautiful.

So guess what the plan is now!
Graduating in APRIL, WITH a minor!!
This will consist of 13 credits of stats next semester plus a 3 credit internship for psychology. This may not get updated between the months of January and April and I am truly sorry if I put any sort of social contact on hold for a little while. But I feel great about it!
So here's to passing 5 stats classes next semester! Anyone know of a good tutor?

Upgrade.

Anyone remember my old phone Little Blackie? Well it died about the same time my sister got an upgrade on her phone, so I got my sister's old one. (Funny how I get all the hand-me-downs and I'm the oldest. It's been happening for quite some time now, you should see my iPod.) Finally I was rewarded an upgrade so I went to the AT&T store on Tuesday.

Karl was at the front desk when I showed up. F-pod.
1. His name was Karl.
2. He asked for my autograph instead of my signature.
3. He hooked me up! $60 phone for $25 off and $50 rebate. Sold me on the $50 insurance for $25 off and he gave me a free phone cover. COVER+ INSURANCE + PHONE = $10!!

The funny part of the story:
I handed him my American Express to pay the $60. He took it and in a surprised voice said "American Express? That's fancy!" The thing is though, it wasn't fancy. It's one of those free ones. I responded with "How old do you think I am?"
His answer "Well now I'm going to guess 17. At first I thought you were my daughter's age."
Yeah I am 21 but I don't go a week in my life without being told I look young. People always tell me it's a good thing too though. Hopefully one day it will be.

p.s. His daughter is 15.

Patty

I could start a new journal called peopleimeetonplanes.blogspot.com and fill it up fast. What do you think? On my flight from Memphis to Salt Lake today, I learned a lot about the lady next to me.
Patty was born in '55. She had missing teeth but would like to get that fixed. I told her I am a senior at BYU studying psychology. I don't think she understood that I am not yet a qualified psychologist. She has had 3 strokes. The first one she had when she was on her way to play bingo. Her 3rd stroke was on her way to Disneyland and it was a blessing in disguise.
She has a son who lives in Provo and is 28 and single. I now have his name, number and address. He likes Panda Express and Star Trek, served his mission in Missouri, is 6 ft 2 with brown wavy hair and a 'medium' body. I didn't ask for any of this information but she gave it to me because she wants him to meet a nice girl with red hair.
My hair is brown, but I get that a lot...

Redneck Rafting

On Saturday, Maddy and her parents and I went to a town that was so typical Alabama. I loved it! It was like what you see in movies about the south and the small towns with plantations and hillbillies.

There is this farm. Maddy called to get directions to the farm but she couldn't understand with the lady's heavy accent. She heard the freeway to freeway then something about a canoe.
After a few wrong turns we found it.

They didn't take credit cards, I don't know why we expected them to, so we had to find an ATM and come back. You pay this guy $10 and pick out a tube. Then you and your tube hop in the back of a pick-up truck and get dropped off at the river.

It takes about 2 hours to get down the river to where you parked. You go over a few little rapids and pass a rope swing or two, meet some southerners, see a turtle and a snake and some cows, and just enjoy the ride.

Let me define redneck rafting though. The other people there rented an extra tube and tied it to their own. In that extra tube they put a cooler full of beer. The second tube took priority while going over 'rapids.' Hilarious if you ask me.

F-pod: Joe Williams. He said he got his hat from Britney Spears and said he could hook us up with a place to stay if we want to visit. He also shouted that he needed to pee but he was scared it would propel him down the river too fast. Yeah he was completely wasted. My favorite line of his was "casper called and wants his legs back!"

At the end of the river, there was a cliff you could jump off and another rope swing. There was a ladder to the cliff with platforms every 8 feet-ish for jumping. I made it off the top of the ladder (25-30 ft) but couldn't bring myself above that. It's probably a good thing though.
I would have been the only one to do it sober.

Oh the People I Meet!

I headed from Salt Lake to Birmingham, Alabama today. The term 'f-pod' came to be because of the people I meet when I travel.

#1. I asked Maddy if she saw any magazines with Ashley (the bachelorette) on the cover. The lady next to me immediately turned, inquired about J.P., and gave her input about Ben. Maddy "Nothing brings people together like the bachelorette."

#2. Lady on plane 1. Hardcore grandma who told me all about the subway, travelling, running, grandkids, Southern belles vs. California boys, 13 mile hikes in blazing heat, and to do something crazy.

#3. The flight attended told me my bag was too big for carry-on. She said when I got to the back of the plane where my seat was, I needed to ask for a compressor or clamp or something to pinch my bag together and make it smaller. I said ok and did as I was told. The flight attendant at the back of the plane had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a clamp or compressor for my bag. She just laughed and said that was a good one and said she was going to start using it too.

#4. The girl next to me on plane 2. 15 yr old from Germany who speaks a little English going to visit a friend in Alabama. She showed me pictures of her family in Germany and her hometown hobbies and I shared mine too. Then I gave her my number and told her to call me if she helps her friends' dad with disaster relief in Pratt, Alabama. I think it was at that point she realized I was crazy.

Top 10

I love mothers day. I think mothers deserve more than one holiday through the year. I hope you read this mom, but here are 10 memories of you that I will never forget!

10. You taking time to watch Baby Mama with me this week.
9. Going out to lunch every day for the first month of last summer... and the summer before that...and you taking me and Jameson to Rock Creek Pizza last week.
8. You trying to bond our family through horseback riding in Bluffdale.
7. You teaching me how to use soy lecithin to make pizza crust and bread.
6. Our road trip to St. George for my dance competition.
5. Freshman year when I was sick (February-ish) and you came down to Provo to give me medicine and comfort food.
4. You chasing us around grandma's backyard pretending to be Chuckie the evil doll.
3. When my friends and I snuck out at girls camp and you caught us, I was ready for a beating, but you didn't even get mad you just hung out with us. Also, when you snuck my friends and I away from girls camp so we could get ice cream.
2. On the way home from shopping in Park City we made up a dance to A*teens.
1. One night in Jr. High I was trying to fall asleep but was crying about something that happened that day. I don't remember what but I remember being really upset. I prayed for a few minutes for God to help me feel comforted and right as I said, "Amen" you came walking down the stairs. I rolled my eyes when I heard you coming but as soon as you left I knew you were my answer.

I'm sure somewhere in this list should be included our midnight twilight shows, family vacations, coming home from vacations without you and seeing you, and more. Thank you for everything you do mom. I love you!
